Steps to Success
Our Steps to Success training programme provides a range
of modular training courses based around the key elements
of Commerce & Industry, Horticulture and now INDEPENDENT LIVING.
At the core of
these courses will be Basic Literacy, Numeracy and IT, with
additional elements such as CV writing and Interviewing Skills.
Commerce and Industry modules include Warehousing,
Reception Skills, Administration, Customer Care and Retail
Selling Skills. These modules are delivered through our
Materials Bank & Craft Centre in Fratton.
Horticulture modules include Commercial Horticulture
Growing Skills and Gardening Skills with other modules
being developed to enhance the programme. These modules
are delivered at our new horticultural unit at our Materials Bank location.
Our new extension to the Steps to Success is called
'LET ME THINK' for our new Independent Living Course.
Trainees will be able to learn new/enhance existing skills
within areas
of Budget, Cooking, Healthy Eating, Health and Hygiene,
Growing Food to Eat, as well as build self-esteem and confidence,
thereby enhancing their independent.
The Main Objective of Steps to Success is to provide our
Trainees (who are disabled, disadvantaged or have learning
difficulties) with the skills and confidence that they require
to progress into meaningful activities, part or full-time paid
employment, self employment or, with others, to develop
social enterprises (businesses of their own).
All of our Trainees will be encouraged to gain a nationally
recognised qualification from Entry Level to Level 3 leading
to an Award, Certificate or Diploma through the National
Open College Network.
