Beneficial Nursery & Horticultural Training Centre

The Beneficial Foundation Nursery and Horticultural Training Centre opened in 1993 and provides, in a working commercial environment, horticultural, route-to-work training and therapy for people with a wide range of disabilities.

Steps to Success

On Monday 3 October 2005 we launched our new Steps to Success training programme, within both Horticulture and Commerce & Industry. Within this training programme we provide modules in Commercial Horticulture Growing Skills and Gardening Skills, run alongside Basic Literacy, Numeracy and IT. This programme provides the Trainees with both theoretical and practical experience of training and working within a commercial nursery.

On 1 November 2007 the Beneficial Foundation's Horticultural Training Unit and Garden Maintenance Scheme relocated to Copseys Nursery in Havant. This is an exciting time for the Charity who have established links with another well known commercial nursery, back in Havant.

This has enabled our Trainees to gain the valuable practical experience they require to use their new found skills and knowledge they have gained through the horticultural training programme, Steps to Success. It also represents a chance to expand the range and scope of our training courses to a wider group of beneficiaries.

Copseys Nursery has a reputation for being the South's premier flower and plant wholesaler. They currently grow their plants and flowers under approximately 7 acres of glass. Crops grown include cut and pot Chrysanthemums, New Guinea Impatiens, Garden Chrysanthemums, Poinsettias and Sunflowers as well as a large selection of hanging baskets.

The customer base for Copseys' products is wide and they supply large Multiple Retail Outlets, Garden Centres, Florists, Wholesale Florists and Postal Flower companies as well as Flower Clubs and Floral Societies.
